Miss C.Z.

Miss C.Z. Restore vision patient

I was born in Shandong, China, in 1993. My mother found me always falling in darkness because I could not see the barriers. She took me to see doctors in Peking, and at four years of age, I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa. During the past twenty years, my vision field was decreasing in medium speed (compared to other RP patients). From 1997 to 2012 I received traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture – each course lasted about six weeks in the hospital. Unfortunately, there was no significant effect, and my condition even continued to worsen. I got electroacupuncture in Shanghai for two years from 2013.

Mrs Jenita Holbrook

Mrs Jenita Holbrook Restore vision patient

I am 36 years old from Atlanta (United States). The first signs of my loss of vision was in April 2015 when things began to look foggy. I asked my daughters was it foggy outside, they said no and I thought they were joking. Next, I noticed that I wasn’t able to see a median in the rode and ran over it. The last thing to happen was that I no longer could see my face in the mirror. After visiting with an optometrist, he suggested that I see a neurologist. Dr. Cohen neurologist ordered an MRI. Brain imaging results showing that I had a Brain Tumor in my left frontal lobe that he described as unique and different from other Brain Tumors that he’d seen before.

Mr. Charlie Foster

Mr. Charlie Foster Restore vision patient

I’m Charlie Foster 19 years old and live in Chester (England, UK). I am writing this a year to the day I lost sight in my left eye, 17th Feb 2016. I am a boxer and whilst preparing for a competition I was sparring and took a blow to my left eye, no pain, no swelling or bruising just instant darkness. I attended numerous hospitals, had many tests but nobody could help, my dreams of boxing as a professional were gone. It affected my work initially as I am a plumber, but my main problem was that I could no longer box, I have trained since I was 9 years old 4/5 times a week and to know this was no longer an option was really tough.

Mr. Peter Rechter

Mr. Peter Rechter Restore vision patient

I am 67, live in Australia, and worked as a musician/teacher until 2010 when suddenly  my right eye was affected by NAION (Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy) and I lost my sight in this eye. I commenced an intravenous steroid therapy program at the Eye & Ear Hospital in Melbourne and unfortunately this did not improve the vision loss. To my regret 10 months later Ischemic Optic Neuropathy struck in my left eye and the doctors couldn’t do anything for me & exactly 14 days later I was completely blind. I was informed that if any sight was to return this would occur over the next 6 to 8 weeks & nothing else could be done for me.

Mr. Ian Elsey

Mr. Ian Elsey Restore vision patient

My name is Ian Elsey. I am 56 years old and a Control Systems Engineer living in the United Kingdom. At the age of 53 I was diagnosed with Bilateral Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (NAION). This means that I have lost vision in both my eyes due to optic nerve damage, which in my case, the cause is unknown. Due to my large loss of vision I was registered as Severely Sight Impaired (Blind). I had a small amount of vision in both eyes but this was clouded and distorted, This meant I could not work or drive, or enjoy simple pleasures such as reading and watching TV.
